This class is designed for birth workers looking to gain skills to assist families from birth through the first 2 weeks of postpartum in breastfeeding and lactation.  Birth Doulas, Postpartum Doulas, Birth Assistants, Student Midwives, Childbirth Educators, Lactation Consultants & Midwives could all benefit from this class.  This workshop has been broken down into 2 sessions for basic and advanced lactation training.  Register for one session or both, whatever suites your needs.  Approved Advanced Workshop through Northwest Birth Assistants.  DONA CEU’s are pending.

Two workshops rolled into one! In the morning session, learn what to expect from a breastfeeding mom-baby relationship from the 1st hour to the first 2 weeks postpartum and how you can support their breastfeeding success. Tips on how to assess if baby is latching on correctly, mom’s milk supply is adequate, baby is gaining appropriately and how to help or when to refer. In the afternoon, learn how to assess if baby has a tongue-tie, how the birth can affect tongue function, and what role bodywork has in successful breastfeeding.

30 min lunch break between sessions.

We hope you can join us!
