Positive Discipline is a non-punitive, strength based philosophy for both the home and classroom. The principles behind Positive Discipline are based on the work of Austrian social psychologist, Alfred Adler, his apprentice, Rudolf Dreikurs and documented in the books of Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott.

Positive Discipline recognizes that human behavior is motivated by the needs of belonging (connection) and significance (meaning) and that “mis”behavior is the mistaken ways that we try and get there. Parents and teachers are taught to use tools that are mutually respectful, take time for training, encourage children to be their best, and look towards solutions to problems.
